Mai's baptism! 😄🌊
Greetings fellow children of God!
I hope you all had a fantastic week! I did! We were able to help our friend Mai get baptized! She is awesome! We had her and 4 other friends come to church on sunday which was pretty great! English sunday school was a blast! We had like 2 lessons every night which was so much fun! I wish we were able to get more joints from members but most of the people we have regular lessons with don't speak japanese very well so its kinda hard.
This week as we were preparing Mai to be baptized and as we studied Come Follow Me and General Conference talks I was overwhelmed with gratitude to God for a living prophet and apostles. Last night as I was studying I was trying to find a conference talk to watch, but when I went to october's general conference, I couldn't choose one! I wanted to watch all of them so badly! I listend last night and then to another 2 or 3 this morning. I love being a missionary. When I return home I can't wait to go on my long bike rides and listen to talks. (I can't use headphones while I bike in Japan :( )
Sorry this email is kinda all over the place!
I hit 1 year on my mission in like a week (I started January 22nd)
We got to go to a 20 year old party yesterday. In japan when people turn 20 that is when they become real adults so that was cool! Everyone was in suits and super cool kimonos, theres a short very low quality video of elder billings shaking his head there, I wish I took better pictures. But that was really fun and we got to talk to lots of young Japanese people!
Well transfers calls are tomorrow! This is only my first transfer here but if President Boss wants Elder Billings to become a trainer I could totally leave now.
Oh! I gave a talk on sunday! I didn't write it in english or I'd send it but it was cool! My topic was "I will go and do" and I explained about what made Laman and Lemuel different from Nephi, and how it is so important to trust prophets but also to seek our own witness of things! I got to talk about how me going and doing on my mission has blessed my life. I testify as Nephi did that the Lord provides a way for us to accomplish every commandment, no matter what it is! An addiction, low income, or habit is not stronger than His power. Pray for Him to guide you and I know He will!
We had an inflatable font, super fun! I was scared it would fall through the floor since the church is on the 2nd floor of the building lol. The branch president left the water going overnight from the sink to fill it up... But it all worked out fine! Kate's turn should be coming up soon! We met her for the first time yesterday when she came to church (I found her on facebook and invited her) and she accepted a book of mormon and said shes excited to learn more! It was good for her to meet all of the other Filipinos yesterday and see the baptism!
