I got a new companion! That makes 4!

I hope all of my friends and family at home are safe, I heard there was a big storm!

Woop Woop! Another week in the books! My new companion was a monkey! We went to a place that has little squirrel monkeys and one sat on my shoulder for like 5 minutes! Please come back to finish but here are pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/LKr5qY3i11DHJsTs6

We found 5 new people this week and 1 of them is on date to receive Baptism! Nin is amazing! She is working in Japan! Our first time meeting her we cooked Myanmar soup and then later she gave us some Myanmar food she cooked, it's super good and spicy! She came to our Wednesday activity this week and had lots of good interactions with members! We taught at both of those interactions, but on our first appointment to teach her more we felt the spirit and invited her to be baptized and she accepted! We are going to meet everynight in front of her apartment to teach her after she gets off work for the next 3 weeks (we will be off island for a few days here and there, but we can call or message then!).

Right now Elder Nagao is getting his haircut! (I should probably get my top cut too, I cut the sides myself but the top is a lot harder to do to yourself) The haircut dude is listening to english music but he doesn't speak english. I think it's funny that so many Japanese people do that but I guess lots of Americans listen to Kpop.

Last week I listened to a talk titled "The Lord is My Light" by Elder Cook! It was really good, it talked about how our worldly struggles were separate from our relationship with our Heavenly Father, but that we flourish when we follow the light of Christ. A different talk by Elder Cook is named "Personal Peace in Challenging Times" talks about how the lasting peace comes from our Heavenly Father.

Recently I've been studying The Book of Mormon in Ether. It gets so sad at many points, in the course of 3 chapters 28 generations are born and die, they cycle through being righteous for little bits of time and then wickedness coming back then wars and bloodshed and eventually back to righteousness. Today when I began my study I felt prompted to go to the Come Follow Me section for these chapters. It posed so many good questions to help me learn from these seemingly sad chapters. I love Come Follow Me and the Prophets! I'm so glad that the church provides us with resources to aid in our personal learning, but I am even more grateful that Heavenly Father wants us to learn, not just the gospel, but also Japanese, Math, Physics, and about the world around us. Today my brother gave a talk in his ward, he spoke about consecration. The Lord can consecrate our efforts when we have an eye single to his glory (seek to do things to accomplish His purposes). I also gave a talk this week (15 minutes in japanese), I spoke on Christlike attributes and how we can make it our quest to gain them. I shared personal experiences from my own life about how I've made it my quest to become closer to our savior and how it has benefited all aspects of my life. (Also one of our Indonesian friends came to church to hear my talk!)

In summary, I've learned that we truly can turn to the Lord for everything. He will help us when we have righteous and pure motives, and we ask for His help! But don't forget that you'll have to do everything in your power to also achieve what you ask for, but He will carry you further than you could've gone on your own.

We are flying to Fukuoka for mission conference this week! Next week Miyako Elders are flying in for exchanges, the week after that we fly to Naha for Zone Conference, then the week after that we fly to Miyako for exchanges. Also at some point the Zone Leaders are flying in for exchanges. Crazy month but lots of good things are happening!

Please reach out to your friends at church who may not be included or may have stopped coming to church. Heavenly Father wants them to continue to experience the joy of living the gospel!

Good luck on your Christlike Quest,
Elder Rasmussen :)
