The Spirit is Strong! (And it can Strengthen You!)

Hello my amazing family and friends, I love you guys! I had a great week, it started out kind of rough but got better after a couple days!  The beginning of the week was rough for me, I'm not sure if I was sick or just had a rough few days. On Sunday and Monday I felt like I was down so I evaluated myself to make sure I was doing everything I needed to and I'm pretty sure that I was but I made sure to focus on my missionary purpose and do the things I needed to to make sure I was in tune with the spirit. Sure enough on Tuesday after I evaluated myself I was back to my normal happy self! I'm so grateful that I was able to recover so quickly and was able to feel the peace and comfort that comes from the gospel and trying to be like Jesus. Weekly Highlights: The Power of Music:  This week I have seen so much power come from music! On Sunday we have about 2 hours to study personally and then we come back together with our district and share what we learned. Like I said b...

Follow the Spirit! Elder Jared Rasmussen

We had another amazing week! Lots of spiritual stuff and tons of Japanese! On Sunday we focused on the Book of Mormon! The sacrament meeting talks were focused on the Book of Mormon, the Elder's Quorum lesson, the Go and Do, and my personal study! The Book of Mormon is an amazing book! It teaches about Jesus Christ and about His love for you! I know that it came forth by the power of God! The Sisters in my district sang a special musical number in Sacrament Meeting! They sang "Nearer my God to Thee" and Sister Cosman played the Piano with them! It was so amazing and they helped bring the spirit to the meeting! I made 4 snow angels! It snowed a couple inches and everytime I would walk past a certain spot I would jump in the snow and make another one! I love the Earth, it is such a beautiful planet, I love the mountains and the snow. I've actually enjoyed the weather quite a bit! Elder D. Todd Christofferson came on Tuesday and spoke to the MTC! He spoke about repentanc...

Another amazing, spiritual week!

Konbanwa! Another great week is done! Spiritual experiences: Me and Elder Phillips had our 2nd teaching lesson with Ammon and the spirit was so strong! I was talking and had no idea what I was going to say next but the Holy Ghost kept placing the words in my mouth that I needed to say! We had a devotional on Tuesday with Sister Dennis (1st counselor in the Relief Society Presidency) and she talked about the power we can receive from the covenants we make with our Heavenly Father! She referenced a lot of talks but two of the main ones were "Spiritual Treasures" and "The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation" both by President Nelson. I've studied those and have learned so much! You guys should too! If you aren't a member of our church then you should set a time to meet with the missionaries to ask questions! You can request to meet with some near you here (  https://www. churchofjesuschrist.org/ comeuntochrist/ps/meet-with- missionaries  ) it can be in person...

First few days in the MTC!

Hello everyone! It is day 3 in the MTC (missionary training center)!  I've loved it so much! My district is so amazing and my companion is the best! We've been able to have so much time together to talk to each other!  Elder Fairbanks says lots of weird Japanese phrases! Elder Rios-Gonzales is super smart and kind! Highlights! The airplane flight was fun and sad. I got to meet two Sisters who were also headed to the MTC and were on my same flight. It hit me that I wasn't gonna see my family for two years, but I'm so excited to serve the lord! I got to spend the night with my amazing cousin Emily and her husband Mark! Mark picked me up from the airport, we watched a devotional about the Atonement by Elder Gong, and then went to Texas Roadhouse with Cole! The next morning me and Emily got to go to Salt Lake city to see a bunch of church history places and we got to see the progress on the Salt Lake City Temple! I had Chick-fil-A for my last time for 2 years ...
